The Homicide Squad reports the details a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 3:19 pm in Uniondale.

According to detectives, a male pedestrian, 75, was struck by a 2009 Jeep Wrangler while attempting to cross Maple Avenue at the intersection of Hempstead Boulevard.  The male pedestrian suffered severe trauma and was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The operator of the Jeep Wrangler fled the scene.

Subsequent to the investigation, a short time later, police located Cesar Manzo, 71, of 859 Goodrich Street and placed him under arrest.

Defendant Cesar Manzo is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident – Death.    He will be arraigned on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
