The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of two Brooklyn men for the Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 1:03 am in Inwood.

According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers were on patrol when they observed a black 2014 Toyota Camry SE traveling southbound on the Nassau Expressway with a defective license plate lamp. Officers activated their emergency lights/sirens and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) stop near the intersection of Wanser Avenue. An investigation resulted in the recovery of an illegal loaded silver and black SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun from inside the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, defendant Boubacar Sy, 41, of 1180a Fulton Street and vehicle passenger, defendant Darnell Williams, 42, of 355 Macdonough Street, were both placed under arrest without further incident.

Defendant Boubacar Sy is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple VTL infractions. Defendant Darnell Williams is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree. They will both be arraigned on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
