Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Laurelton man for an assault that occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 2:05 a.m. in Valley Stream.

According to Detectives, a 51-year-old male victim was working as an Uber driver and was parked in front of Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital, 900 Franklin Avenue, waiting for his customer to arrive. He was approached by the defendant, Jonathan Sharrock, 37, of 21929 131st Avenue. The defendant told the victim that his car had broken down and requested to borrow his cell phone. The victim allowed the defendant to use his cell phone and asked to have it back after the defendant had made a phone call. The victim then became aggressive and demanded the victim give him a ride instead of the customer he was waiting for. When the victim refused, the defendant began punching him in the face through the uber vehicle window, causing injuries to his forehead, lip, and chin. The defendant also caused damage to the victim’s vehicle during the assault. The defendant was restrained by hospital security until police arrived. While in custody the defendant bit and scratched police officers who were securing him to a stretcher before being transported to an area hospital for a medical evaluation. After arriving at the hospital, the defendant made threats to police officers and hospital staff and spit at officers.

Defendant Jonathan Sharrock is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd degree, Assault 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, Making a Terroristic Threat, and Harassment 2nd degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at First District Court in Hempstead.
