The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an undomiciled man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 1:07 AM in West Hempstead.

According to detectives, Defendant Kevin Jemerson, 48, entered the Laundry Palace located at 112 Hempstead Turnpike. While inside, he approached a 41-year-old male employee and struck him with his hands. The employee retreated to an employee-only area of the business to call 911. The defendant followed the employee into the restricted area and forcibly removed the victim’s phone and threw it on the floor, preventing them from calling 911. The defendant then fled from the scene. Officers located the defendant nearby and placed him under arrest without incident. There were no injuries reported at scene.

Defendant Kevin Jemerson is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Harassment 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
