The First Squad reports the arrest of a South Hempstead woman for an Assault that occurred on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 4:00 a.m. in South Hempstead.

According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers responded to 681 Willis Street for a disturbance. The defendant, Carolynne Alvarez, 27, of 681 Willis Street was involved in a physical altercation with a 27-year-old female. The defendant was attempting to strike the victim with a broken glass bottle when she struck the victims finger causing a minor laceration and pain. While attempting to place the defendant into custody, she sprayed an unknown chemical substance into an officer’s face causing face and eye irritation. The defendant continued to be violent and combative while resisting arrest. While walking the defendant to the ambulance she kicked an officer in his knee causing pain. Both officers and the defendant were transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Defendant Alvarez is charged with two (2) counts of Assault on a Police Officer, Assault 2nd Degree, Menacing 3rd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting arrest. Defendant Alvarez will be arraigned on Monday, August 31, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
