female for an Elder Scam on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 5:00 pm in Hicksville.
According to Detectives, a 70-year-old female victim received a call informing her that she was involved in a crime in India and needed to withdraw funds in order to rectify the situation. The victim complied and between Monday, June 29, 2026 and Monday, July 27, 2026, the victim withdrew and wired a total of $919,200. USC
On Tuesday, September 1, 2026 the victim was contacted again and instructed she needed to purchase an additional $300,000 in gold bars and coins. The victim realized she was being scammed and contacted police. After an extensive investigation, the Defendant Fnu Tierigeli, 32, of 7201 Queens Boulevard, Woodside was located and placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant Fnu Tierigeli is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 2nd Degree. She will be arraigned on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
